1, Chinese National Standards (GB System)

GB 8965.1-2020 "Protective Clothing - Flame Retardant Clothing"

Grading standards: divided into A level (higher protection) and B level (conventional protection), canceling the old version of C level.

Core indicators:

Grade A: Continuation time ≤ 2 seconds, smoldering time ≤ 2 seconds, damage length ≤ 50mm, thermal protection coefficient (TPP) ≥ 126 kW · s/m ² (direct skin contact).

B-class: Continuation time ≤ 2 seconds, smoldering time ≤ 4 seconds, damage length ≤ 100mm.

Structural requirements: Adopting a triple tight design (cuffs, collar, pant cuffs) to ensure that the body is not exposed during movement, and metal parts need to be isolated from the skin.

GB 8624 "Classification of Burning Behavior of Building Materials and Products"

It involves testing of some flame-retardant fabrics, such as the B1 level requirement for damage length ≤ 150mm and sustained burning time ≤ 5 seconds.

 

2, International mainstream standards

NFPA 2112 in the United States

Suitable for industrial flame retardant clothing, requiring a continuous burning time of ≤ 2 seconds in vertical combustion testing, no melting droplets, and passing 50 washing tests.

EU EN ISO 11612

Covering thermal protection (such as convective heat, radiant heat) and flame retardant performance, it is required that the fabric does not melt upon carbonization when exposed to fire.

UL 94 (Plastic Materials)

Divided into HB/V-0/V-1/V-2 levels, if V-0 level is reached, the flame must be extinguished within 10 seconds without any dripping.

 

3, Industry specific requirements

Petrochemical industry: It is necessary to combine anti-static function (such as GB 12014), and the fabric resistance should be ≤ 10 ^ 7 Ω.

Electric power industry: Some scenarios require arc protection testing (such as ASTM F1959).

 

4, Testing and Certification

Washing durability: A-level flame-retardant clothing must still meet the standard after 50 washes.

Certification process: LA labor safety certification is required, including type testing (such as fracture strength, tear strength) and factory inspection.
